Around 1930 the corner Wycker Brugstraat/Oeverwal looked very different (see photo Maastricht city archive). In 1932-1934 the Sint-Servaas bridge was restored and part of the former abutment excavated for the widening of the channel. The first three houses were demolished. Fortunately, the Gable stones of the next two properties, the Gulden Hoofd and La Coup d'Or or the Gulden Cop did remain in their original positions. In 1868 Victor de Stuers also saw the now disappeared inscription IN THE GOLD HOUSE at this address. This Gable stone symbolizes that as well and is flanked by the year stones "17" and "35", the year the facade was built. Both the Gulden Hoofd and the Gulden Cop next to it belong to the very old house names in Wyck, which are already mentioned around 1500.

The Gulden Cop or the Gulden Hoof are present in several places in the city. Sometimes as a man's head with a stately or powerful expression, sometimes as an expression of the goddess Minerva as on Market 6.
