17 IN THE SUNFLOWER 27

IN THE SUNFLOWER could certainly still be found at 62 St. Pieterstraat in 1950, before it was transferred to Maastricht's own "open-air museum" on Thermenplein together with two other stones.

The ploughshare, sometimes also referred to as lance point, used to be located at the corner of Kersenmarkt/Maastrichter Smedenstraat 28, accompanied by the year stones 17 - 34.

The ploughshare was well positioned there, because it was close to the properties "In 't Hoochsweert", the "little kettle", the "little hammer", and the "horseshoe". These house names indicate that at that time there were still many blacksmiths active in the Smedenstraat.

From Havenstraat 11a, IN THE LITLLE TREE was moved to the Thermenplein during the renovation of the Stokstraat quarter in the 1960s.
