IN THE FOX 1756
The caption makes it clear that the animal depicted is a fox. The tail speaks for itself, but the rest is indefinable. "Sjus, 'nen ezel" (=Just like a donkey), was the comment of a young Maastricht man.
It is not the only fox in Maastricht.
On Boschstraat 60, IN THE WHITE FOX VOS is displayed , originally from Achter het Vleeshuis 39, where it was flanked by S. CRISPINUS and S. CRISPINIANUS, which finally ended up on the facade of Boschstraat 89.
