The name "cow's foot" was used to refer to a house in the Gubbelstraat and on the Markt behind the town hall. Presumably, it is the same house in both cases.
The gablestone 17 IN THE WHITE COW'S FOOT 41 comes from Gubbelstraat 24, the former brewery "De witte Koyevoet" of Michiel Peerboom, who himself lived at the Beusdael gate at Hoogbrugstraat. But it is not the Michiel who had bought the Beusdael gate in 1686, nor did he have his coat of arms of 1696 placed there, because he died in 1694. Two more Michiels followed, the first of whom died childless in 1628. No son and therefore no successor. So who was this Michiel of 1741?

The cow's foot theme can also be found in other cities, such as Utrecht: IN DE KOEI-VOET, 61 Lange Nieuwstraat.
