The little John the Baptist with Christ as the Lamb of God, a wooden painted sign from 1866, placed by Jan Eberhard in his paint shop/drugstore, which was previously called the Red Lion. The name change took place during the period that the son and painter Hubertus temporarily lived at home. He is probably the maker of this sign. The reason for the name change is not known.
The drugstore was later continued by Frans Immekeppel, who owed his nickname 't sjäöpke (=the little sheep) to the image on the sign.
In 1976 the drugstore was closed down by its last owner Victor Croes.
In 1982 the sign was restored by Harry Kranen.
In the Bonnefanten museum there should somewhere still be a sign with a fire hose, originating from Kleine Staat 11, removed in 1903.
It is said to be a sign of pump maker and manufacturer of fire pumps F. van Beethoven.
It is therefore quite possible that this sign, which dates from the same time as the Little Kid John, was also made by painter and neighbour Hubertus Nicolaas Eberhard.
