Although IN THE OAK was not relocated to its original spot, the choice of the new address was not arbitrary. The house Boschstraat 104 was traditionally known as "de groene eycke". In 1651, a brewery was located there, and in 1813 it was called "hotel du chêne vert". This name was kept until the 20th century. The location in the facade was less fortunate. It takes a while to find it: around the corner in St. Catharinastraat with one of the blessings of modern times, a traffic sign, right in front of it.

The same stone can be seen in an old photograph of the back facade of Rechtstraat 12, flanked by two year stones 16 - 96. At this address a modern version of the Eyck and the two year stones 16 - 96 can still be seen in the front facade. In the past it was erroneously assumed that IN THE OAK TREE came from Kersenmarkt 8, which indeed had that name too.
