Although the house name is not mentioned in the gichten (=register), it can be assumed that IN THE LILY was originally located at Capucijnenstraat 82. It was seen here at least as early as the 19th century, although you can tell from the trapezium shape that it originally stood between curving uprights.
The name liliet for lily is remarkable; a name you seldom or never come across.
In contrast to IN THE THREE LILIES - Rechtstraat 98, which is stylised like the coat of arms of French kings - the so-called fleurs de lis - here we have a natural lily, which falls in the line of the golden flower and the many roses. Just a flower without any underlying profound meaning.
