A city panorama of the city of Cologne as seen from Duytz (Deuts), the district across the Rhine.
Presumably an existing print served as the model.
The gable stone originally came from Stenenwal 21, which was the rear house of Rechtstraat 76.
Around 1900 the gable stone disappeared from the facade there and moved to Echt, where it simply stood beside the garden path of a house for many years. In 2010 the VMG had the opportunity to bring it back to Maastricht. Putting it back in Stenenwal 21 was no longer an option, because that house had been destroyed in the war and rebuilt later, but in a style that clashed with the old stone.
An alternative facade was therefore searched that did fit the style, and it was found it two houses further down in Stenenwal 23.
