The majority of the representations on gable stones relate to trades and crafts. Sometimes these are directly represented by a tool or attribute from the workshop, sometimes the product of the craftsman is depicted. Here it is clearly the former, a brandy kettle. It reminds us of the distilleries. Apparently, this was an occupational group that was well represented.
What is striking about this stone is the way in which the stone mason, due to lack of space, considered it necessary to cut the word brandy kettle in two.
