It is only logical that St. Peter is represented in St. Pieterstraat. There at no. 30 we find IN ST PETER. St. Peter is of course the patron saint of fishermen, but in that function he is usually depicted with a key and cod.
On the stone he has two keys in his right hand and a book in his left hand, so that St. Peter must clearly be seen as the "porter" of the gate of heaven. The band that binds the two keys together could refer to St. Peter's bonds, or the shackles, from which the first pope was freed by an angel.
