HAEC DOMVS IAM MEMORATA 1646
= This house was already mentioned in 1646.
Otmar Lochschmidt's Kapoen was placed here in 1994 and refers to Arnoldus Capoens, who sold the house in 1646 to the Begaerden monastery next door.
16 IN THE BEGAERDEN COURT 25
Gable stone in the back house of no. 9, which used to be the brewery house of the Begaerden.
Elsewhere in the facade there is a tin plate with laurel sprigs and the letters P R, originally gold on black.
This was a so-called fire plate that was attached to a house as proof that it was insured against fire.
P R stands for Propriétaires Réunies, the Belgian insurance company Compagnie des Propriétaires Réunies et du Phenix Belge S.A.,Brussels, 1821, which was active in Maastricht alongside other insurance companies from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
