A cat at Kattenstraat. The question is which was there first, the house name or the street name. fIt obviuously was the house name. In 1513,  "die katz" is mentioned, whereas in 1518 the alley was referred to as the street "neven dye cat".
After "the cat" had become dilapidated around 1730, the magistrate decided to demolish the building. After it had been sold in 1735, a new house was built and a new gable stone may have been placed.

The lower facade has been extensively remodelled, but the gable stone is still in its original place.
