Here we see a lion rampant to the left in a coat of arms crowned with a prince's crown, under which two palmettes are crossed. The stone is dated end of the 18th century. Of all the animals, the lion, and especially the lion rampant as seen on the gablestone of this building, was the most common on heraldic weapons of dozens of countries. The Duchy of Brabant also had a lion rampant as its coat of arms with the same type of shield. Maastricht had a period with two sovereigns, the prince-bishop of Liege and the duke of Brabant. Still, conclusions cannot be drawn. For that, more background information is needed.

The stone is said to have come from a gate at the Blekerij, where it was the keystone.
