Should you have entered the city through the German gate and be looking for a place to sleep, you could always go to Hoogbrugstraat 15, where you did not even have to leave your horse outside: SWART SCHAEP - GOODET LOGYS TE FOOT ENTE PEERD. (BLACK SHEEP - GOD LODGING ON FOOT AND ON HORSEBACK)  (NB. this text does not win the prize for originality; in Sint Truiden, at Luikerstraat 71, you will also find: Goet logis te voet en te peerdt).
Apparently, this establishment did good business, because it had to be extended to the neighbouring house no. 13, where the same advertising slogan can be read on the water frame.
According to De Stuers, there was a sheep  above the inscription of no. 15. There is still an old photo of a broken-out gable stone with a sheep. The interesting thing is that on that stone is written: "H.Brugst". This must therefore be the sheep from Hoogbrugstraat 15. This stone was later replaced, as a showpiece, from the museum to Muntstraat 23.
Since 2002, a scaled-down "replica" of this sheep by Servé Minis has been on display at the old address , although as a joke it has been transformed into the "sheep with five legs".

Should you ever wonder why the former sheep disappeared from the façade there, you should take a look at the windows. There you can see that (when enlarging the windows) the window sills were moved downwards. They did not take the trouble to shorten the sills any further, which meant that the gable stone no longer fitted and therefore disappeared from the facade.
