Description: I above, a red lion in silver, II below, in gold a red St. Andrew's cross, the shield is covered by a marquis's crown and a cardinal's hat; on each side a palm branch.
In 1954 this heraldic stone was relocated in this building, which was formerly called "het lamke" (the little lamb). It is the coat of arms of the Bounam family, whose original name must have been Bonhomme.
The origin of the stone is unknown, but it probably comes from the refuge house that this family must have had in the city. Everyone of standing who normally lived in the countryside had such a refuge within the city walls, where they sought protection in "times of turmoil".
In 1683 the Bounam family from Liege bought the manor of Rijckholt and added this name to their own family name. In 1691 Jean Maximiliaan Bounam de Rijckholt was raised to the peerage by the emperor.
The same coat of arms can be found at Ryckholt Castle and on the entrance gate.
